DIGI-TYPE History

DIGI-TYPE was started February 1978 in Santa Rosa - California, providing typesetting services to commercial printers in the area.

It ran successfully for many years specializing in typesetting, proofreading and paste-up (on a drafting table) until desktop publishing was introduced. At that time it diversified into typesetting and desktop publishing business. DIGI-TYPE was one of the first in the North Bay to offer color thermal wax prints which combined photos and type in one layout at the same time. That was the end of the typesetting days as we knew it and from there DIGI-TYPE evolved into a Pre-Press Service Bureau.

Over the years, scanning was added and software applications improved to where print elements could be combined into one layout file and color separated on the imagesetters for print-ready composite film.

Today, DIGI-TYPE is positioning itself as a full-service marketing solutions provider, offering quality graphic and web design, custom printing and digital imaging solutions for growing businesses.
